Are Sneaker Boutiques Making Money?
A buyer for a footwear chain asked me that question the other day. He said that he's gotten feedback from vendors that some of them aren't so great about paying their bills on time. I didn't have an answer to his question. I've talked to/interviewed lots of boutique buyers, but a lot of times it's when they're just starting out and I haven't gotten into their business like that. It's something to think about though, especially for boutiques located in Downtown New York. I mean, how many $100 sneakers must you have to sell to pay those crazy rents?
