Go Greek!

I kid people, because truth is I know less than zero about Greek life. Still, I was impressed and amazed to read that a bunch of black fraternities and sororities sued Converse (which, in case you didn't know is owned by the mighty Nike) for trademark infringemen, and, get this, they won!!

Apparently, Converse created a series of shoes called that Greek Pak (see below), which featured the founding years and organizational colors of several popular fraternities and sororities.

NOTE: there were three sneaker images up here, but they were so unattractive that it was starting to bug me having to look at them so I took two down.

You can read all about the drama here, but this is what Samuel Hamilton, Chair of the NPHC Council of Presidents, who also serves as president of Kappa Alpha Psi, said of the opinion:

"This opinion delivers a strong blow on our behalf. Perhaps Goliath (Converse) will recognize that our sling shot and a stone, combined with truth, can be lethal and will prevail. I hope Converse and others get the message that we will leave no stone unturned to protect the valuable rights that we have worked so hard to establish."

Heh--take that, Converse!
