Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is all about the patent leather this spring--in black no less. My bet is that the fashion forward types will be eating this look up and the masses will follow suit once fall arrives. By then, the knock-offs will be available in every profile (pumps, block heels, boots) under the sun. I pulled this image, btw, out of a recent Barney's New York catalog. The shoes are priced at $640, which no, in a million years I'd never pay that for a pair of shoes and I hope unless you're Beyonce-Knowles rich, you won't either. As far as I'm concerned, this whole obsessions with "lux" needs to die. Good design does NOT have to cost you half your rent money.
